Tree down on the 6th Hamilton

As some of you will have noticed, the tree behind the green at the 6th fell onto the green during recent storms. The tree has since been removed, but with the frosty weather the green will be out of action for another fortnight before we can get the adequate repairs to the green surface.

A few of the bunkers are currently out of play and you will notice that the sand has been removed from them, this is part of our annual bunker improvement plan. Each of these bunkers will have new sand by the end of February.

The gorse the right hand side of the 16th green is to be removed and hopefully you will notice a difference as early as this weekend. This gorse removal will allow you to see more of the surrounding green side and improve the aesthetics of the hole.

A mouth-watering prospect...

Looking ahead to what 2018 has to offer in the golfing world brings to light one event in particular: The Ryder Cup. This year it takes place on home soil, in Paris, at the end of September and it’s shaping up to be a titanic battle between some of the world’s best golfers.

This week gives us a little preview as to how Team Europe might shape up as a slightly weakened team take on their Asian counterparts in the EurAsia Cup. There’s plenty of British talent on show with Casey, Dunne, Fisher, Fitzpatrick, Fleetwood and Hatton all making Thomas Bjorn’s team.

As for Team USA, they recently completed a one-sided victory over an International team in the 2017 Presidents Cup. Just by looking down their list of players – DJ, Spieth, Thomas, Fowler and Kopeka – it’s clear to see why this year’s Ryder Cup is such a mouthwatering prospect.

DJ drives to victory...

Dustin Johnson won the Sentry Tournament of Champions last weekend with the ew TaylorMade Twist Face technology in his golf bag. A monster drive was just one of the highlights in DJ’s eight shot win. Click here to read more and click here to hear what DJ had to say about the new driver.

To highlight the importance of putting in his victory he also took a new putter with him to Kapalua, using a T-Line on his putter to improve his alignment. Johnson ranked sixth in putting for the week with the new Spider Tour, picking up 2.894 strokes on the field.
