Welcome to this week's newsletter from The Blackwood pro shop, we hope you enjoy the read.

Club news

On the Course...

Unfortunately it was a tough weekend weather-wise, and there was no golf on either course. Fortunately things are starting to at least brighten up and the temperature is slowly creeping back up to something that doesn’t require 40 layers of clothing.

This week sees the return of Mid-week Stableford and Weekend Stableford events before the new season really takes off.

The members’ computer is now in the shop in preparation for the install of the New Club V1 system. Please check in with the staff member behind the counter and sign into the computer for the next few weeks.

On the use of the computer can everyone that does not utilise our online booking software for competitions please confirm your email details with the centre so that we can get this set up for you. The BRS booking platform now has a member’s app so that you can book directly from your phone, it will also allow us to keep you more informed of the day to day goings on at Blackwood.

Represent your club this season...

A reminder to order your crested clothing for 2018 season to represent teams at The Blackwood. This weekend is your last chance so do not delay… individual orders can't be processed it needs to be a bulk order.

Club AGM

Our Men’s AGM takes place on Saturday, 24 March so be sure to attend. On the same night will be the Men’s Winter League Dinner and Prize Giving, if you are attending be sure to complete your meal choices on the club noticeboards by Monday, 19 March.

Night Golf

Let’s kick off our par three season in the right way… Are you interested in having a go at Night Golf in April? Friday, 13 April is available for a Four Person Night Golf Event on our wonderful Par Three Temple Course. Included is:

Night Golf entry.
Buffet style dinner afterwards.
Prizes.
Bottle of beer or soft drink.

£30 per person. Register your interest by replying here or calling into the pro shop. Deposit of £15 payable when booking.

St Patrick's Open

The St Patrick's Open event on Monday, 19 March is now available to book via the BRS booking system.

Greenkeepers' news

Course update

Even though the weather has been particularly harsh this winter we really hope you see the work the greenkeeping team have been putting in over these tough months. The clearance of over growth and bushes between 10 and 18 really makes those two holes much more appealing and pleasing to look at. The work done to 16 will improve that hole as the season starts and the flowers begin to add some colour to our course. The job done by our greenkeeping team is always of the highest standard and if you see them be sure to say well done on some fantastic work.

Tuesday Tips Sessions

The second of our Tuesday Tips sessions took place on Tuesday, 6 March. It was once again very well supported. Remember - There is no long term commitment to these sessions. Simply click here to register for next week.

I have to say it’s particularly inspiring to watch people get really focussed for the season ahead. There are a lot of inter-club matches and qualifying competitions starting in the next 4 - 6 weeks, why not get out there and let's help you improve your game? Remember Padraig Harrington said his goal at the peak of his career was to try to improve some part of his game by 1% every day. Too many people leave it to the last minute and request a quick fix. Golf unfortunately has no time for that… plus surely it’s the journey that is the enjoyable bit!

Break 100, Break 90 or Break 80

These sessions will be solely based on the course and played over nine holes with hints and tips to improve your on-course play under pressure. These classes are for the first three people in each category that sign-up. The purpose is to use the other people in the class to drive you on and achieve your goals this season.
