Thank you... Many thanks once again to all those who helped out with the divoting on the Hamilton this week... much appreciated! Those who weren’t there... I don’t want you to miss out so let’s go again this Monday evening from 6:30pm! |
Lady Captain's Charity Lunch A big thank you from me to all lady members and visitors who came along to my Lady Captain's Charity Lunch in aid of Guide Dogs NI. This was the first of several fundraisers this year supporting this very worthwhile charity which receives virtually no government funding. We raised £150 on the day and still a few more donations to come in. Thank you also to our guests from Guide Dogs NI, Helen Kennedy, Ian Carnachan, Rigsby (black, guide dog) and Ulrich (blond, puppy in training). Both your talks were enlightening and inspiring. Dogs were amazingly well-behaved. Such stars! We look forward to keeping in touch with you during the year. Lady Captain.

Ladies Challenge Cup The Blackwood Ladies Challenge Cup team of Joan Martin, Lesley Steer, Julie Rainey, Heather Green and Maureen Taylor had a very enjoyable day at The Dee. We came away with two strong wins from five in extremely difficult playing conditions. The winds were fierce! We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality, food and craic and came away making some new golfing friends. A super day out. Thank you Dee Team Captain Janet and her team. A big thanks also to Susan Stockton, the excellent Captain. |

We are now looking forward to welcoming the Donaghadee ladies to Blackwood on Wednesday, 9 May, first tee time 2:00pm. Support is very welcome. Game on!
Lady Captain. |

Flat out further ST180
Mizuno’s Wave sole commits every available gram of weight low, towards the face – dropping spin rates for even the fastest, downward ball strikers. Our first Wave sole in a driver also allows the ST180 to contract and expand on impact – increasing energy imparted to the ball. With a new forged SP700 TI face the GT180 accelerates ball speeds noticeably past its predecessors.

GT Wood The new GT180 is the ultimate fine tunable driver with the dual ability to squeeze every last yard from your drives and evolve with your swing. Built on a platform of faster than ever ball speeds the GT180 boasts an expanded range of draw, neutral and fade settings in low, mid and high spin flights. Set the GT180 up to make the very most of the swing you have. Then tweak over the season to keep pace with your swing changes and conditions.

[* END *] Urethane cover? So what... |
A common phrase we hear here in the shop is: “It’s round and white, it can’t be that different”. The truth is that every single golf ball is unique in some way – whether it’s the ball’s core, layers or dimple pattern – but there is one thing that all premium balls have in common… |
Try Urethane with the Z-Star and Z-Star XV Like all tour-level golf balls, the Srixon Z-Star and Z-Star XV boast a Urethane cover, which sets the bar for cover materials. Urethane – a soft and flexible polymer – will give you the highest possible spin rates combined with the best feel; benefits you will really notice when hitting chip and pitch shots. However, if you like to play lower flighted chip-and-runs you might prefer other options in Srixon’s range that are made with Ionomer covers. While this type of cover doesn’t generate as much spin, it is slightly more durable and offers a cheaper alternative. |
|
| As you can see on these 50-yard pitch shots, the extra spin from the Urethane cover ball on the right helps it to stop much quicker than the Ionomer cover ball on the left, which rolls out on landing. |
