Course update As you will have seen, we have invested in a new rough mower, this will give us a better cut in the rough and allow the green keeping team to develop how the rough plays. Due to the heavy rainfall over the last few months it has been difficult to develop any consistency in the rough. Currently the rough is 54mm, but this will slowly be reduced possibly down to as little as 36mm over the coming weeks to develop a short, but thicker cut meaning less patchy areas throughout, and thus more consistency to the rough. This is fairer for you as golfers so please bear with us through this process. The greens have been fertilised this week which you will hopefully have noticed as the ball is rolling more consistently once more. I feel the greens are well on their way to being in the best possible condition for the summer months, but we need the golfers help…. Over the last lot of weeks we have noticed a lot of pitchmarks on our greens not being repaired, we would stress the importance of repairing your own pitch mark and one other per green. This helps the greens maintain their consistent roll throughout the year. A pitchmark repaired as you play will take 48 hours to repair fully, if left those pitch marks can take up to two weeks and sometimes longer if it's particularly deep… please think of this when you consider the quality of green you wish to putt on.
