Welcome to this week's newsletter, bringing you the latest news, events and offers from here at The Blackwood GC. We hope you're having a great week on and off the golf course. Enjoy this week's read! |
Monday Morning 9
I'm looking to start playing nine holes every Monday morning at 10:00am, ideally this would be with three different members each week but if one or two show or a few people attend every week that is fine. I see it as a great opportunity to get to know each other and hopefully enjoy nine holes (weather permitting) and possibly a coffee afterwards. This will start Monday, 5 November at 10:00am, if you are interested please get in touch by calling 028918 52706 or clicking here. |

NEW PING Sigma 2 putters The new Sigma 2 putters from PING are now available in-store. These new putters from PING appeal to every golfer out there, this is due to the fact there are 10 different shaped putters to suit everyone's eye, there's even one that allows you to take the ball out the hole without bending down! PING are also introducing a new feature on this line that allows you to customise your putter length. Each putter comes with a completely adjustable length shaft all the way from 32 inches to 36, this is in an aim to increase consistency once you find your length. Experts have proven that without using the correct length putter will cause you to groove and develop a stroke that cannot perform consistently.

A rising star Xander Schauffele showed US Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk exactly what he was missing at Le Golf National, as he pulled off a stunning play-off victory at the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai. Schauffele clawed back a three-shot deficit to fellow American Tony Finau, making birdies on the final two holes to force the play-off, before making another birdie at the sudden-death par-five 18th to win his 3rd PGA title. Schauffele was named rookie of the year in the 2016-17 season, and is proving his credentials once again this year, despite switching equipment manufacturers at the start of the season. If you’re also thinking of a move away from your current set of clubs, come down to the shop and we’ll get you fitted down to every last detail! |
Preferred lies Now that the clocks have gone back and we find ourselves edging towards winter, many golf courses will have introduced a Local Rule for 'Preferred Lies'. When this is in force, it allows you to mark, clean (especially important if your ball is covered in mud like in this photo) and place your ball within six inches of where it has come to rest, providing it was on a closely mown area - i.e. the fairway. If you're unsure on this or any other rule, please come and speak to a member of the pro shop team. |

Winter is coming, but we know that won't prevent you avid golfers getting out on the course to face biting winds, muddy shoes and, most of all, rain. Lots and lots of rain. With this in mind, it's more important than ever to have a golf bag which will keep your clubs and belongings dry during a downpour. |
Introducing Titleist's StaDry Deluxe This is where a cart bag like the StaDry Deluxe comes into play. You'll certainly be keeping your valuables dry if you opted to upgrade your golf bag to this offering over the winter thanks to Titleist’s StaDry waterproof technology, which ensures maximum coverage from the rain during your round. Weighing in at 2.9 kgs, it's also incredibly lightweight, making it easy to lift to and from the car boot to your trolley.
